Are you ready for Countryfest 2010? Here are directions to The Altamont Fairgrounds. WGNA has worked extensively with the offices and officials from The Town of Guilderland, The New York State Department of Transportation, Guilderland Police Department, NYS Troopers, Albany County Sheriff and Altamont Police Department to help you arrive to Countryfest 2010 in a timely manner! Here are some suggestions.
CAR POOL
Choose a designated driver and pile in for a great day of music and fun! Allow time for traffic: You WILL experience some delays. Please allow for that in your travel time. The show will kick off at 11am and you won’t want to miss one (1) minute. While in traffic, PLEASE be considerate of others in traffic with you and the property owners along the way. PLEASE treat others as you would expect to be treated! Pay attention to the Countryfest 2010 staff. We have over 200 people working to get you parked and on your way to Countryfest 2010! PLEASE pay attention and follow directions.
Take a DIFFERENT route
There are several ways to get to The Altamont Fairgrounds. LOOK BELOW and choose a route that makes sense for you.
Parking Lot Gates open at 5:30am. The infield gates open at 9am.
Directions thru Voorheesville
Take Rt 20 to Rt 155 WEST. Head west on Rt 155 for 4 miles, to the roundabout at Rt 85A in Voorheesville. Once in the circle, take the first right onto Rt 85A WEST. Take Rt 85A WEST for 3/4 mile to the first signal. At the signal, bear right onto Rt 156. About 1/4 mile past the signal, bear left at the split on Rt 156 towards Altamont. Stay on Rt 156 for about 5 1/2 miles, to the Brandle Road access.
Directions thru Guilderland
Take Rt 20 West to Rt. 146. Take a left on Rt. 146 West and continue straight. Altamont Fairgrounds will be on your left (approximately 5 miles).
From the NORTH on I-87 (Northway)
Take I-87 south to Albany. DO NOT take Exit One for I-90/I-87 New York Thruway.
Stay in the LEFT LANE and continue to Rt. 20/WESTERN AVE.
Turn RIGHT (west) on Rt. 20/WESTERN AVE.
Follow Rt. 20 4.3 miles to Rt. 146 West.
Turn LEFT on Rt. 146 towards Altamont. Go 5.5 miles.
Turn LEFT at the Altamont Fairgrounds sign.
From the SOUTH on I-87 (NY Thruway)
Take Exit 24. Follow signs to Rt. 20/WESTERN AVE.
(It’s the first exit, immediately after the toll booth).
Turn RIGHT (west) on Rt. 20/WESTERN AVE.
Follow Rt. 20 4.3 miles to Rt. 146 West.
Turn LEFT on Rt. 146 towards Altamont. Go 5.5 miles.
Turn LEFT at the Altamont Fairgrounds sign.
From the EAST on I-90
I-90 to Exit B-1.
Follow this non-Thruway section of I-90 to the Fuller Rd./State University Exit.
Turn LEFT on Fuller Rd. and continue to the next traffic light (Washington Ave.).
Turn RIGHT (west) on Washington and go 2.9 miles until it ends at Rt 155.
Turn LEFT on Rt. 155, go 1.4 miles to Rt. 20 (Western Ave.).
Turn RIGHT on Rt. 20, go 1.9 miles to Rt. 146.
Turn LEFT (west) on Rt. 146 towards Altamont.
Go 5.5 miles and turn left at the Altamont Fairgrounds sign.
From other points east and a little further north (eg: Vermont)
Take NY Route 7 west to the Adirondack Northway I-87 south to Albany.
DO NOT take Exit One for I-90/I-87 New York Thruway.
Stay in the LEFT LANE and continue to Rt. 20/WESTERN AVE.
Turn RIGHT (west) on Rt. 20/WESTERN AVE.
Follow Rt. 20 4.3 miles to Rt. 146 West.
Turn LEFT on Rt. 146 towards Altamont. Go 5.5 miles.
Turn LEFT at the Altamont Fairgrounds sign.
From the WEST on I-90 (NY Thruway)
Take the NY THRUWAY/I-90 east to EXIT 25.
After toll booth, take the first exit (Exit 9). Stay to your right and take Rt. 7/CURRY RD. to a traffic light at Rt. 146.
Turn LEFT on Rt. 146/CARMAN RD. Go 3.7 miles.
Turn LEFT (east) on Rt. 20/WESTERN AVE. Go 0.8 miles.
Turn RIGHT on Rt. 146 towards Altamont. Go 5.5 miles.
Turn left at the Altamont Fairgrounds sign.
BY TRAIN, BUS, OR TAXI
The Amtrak station is across the river from Albany in Rensselaer (16 miles from Altamont).
Greyhound & Trailways are located in downtown Albany.
Public transportation from Albany to Altamont is limited. Taxi fare from Albany to Altamont is approximately $25 - $31.
